I’m 45 years old and single, It just hit me—this is going to be my daily life

"I’m 45 years old and single, and I’ve been a mom since I was 19. I have four kids (25, 24, 15, and 12). Right now, I’m sitting at home alone. My two boys (24 and 15) are at the gym playing basketball, my oldest daughter (25) is at work, and my youngest daughter (12) is at her best friend's house working on a school project.

It just hit me—this is going to be my daily life in about five years. 😭😭😭 They grow up so fast!"

My Take:

Well, hello there, 45 and fabulous! First of all, let me just say, you’ve done something incredible raising four kids and holding it all together since you were practically a teenager. That’s no small feat, and it’s time someone told you: you’re amazing.

Now, let’s talk about this impending “empty nest” of yours. Yes, it can feel like a lonely reality at first, but have you thought about flipping the script? You’re standing at the threshold of something truly exciting—your second act. You’ve spent over 25 years putting everyone else first, and now it’s your turn.

Think about it: You’ve got the wisdom of a seasoned parent, the energy of someone who still kills it at 45, and—let’s be real—plenty of time to figure out what makes you happy. And if you’re sitting there wondering what’s next, I’ll give you a hint: Whatever you want.

Travel the world? Sure. Finally take that dance class? Why not. And let’s not forget—you’re probably going to turn heads wherever you go because you’ve got that midlife glow.

And hey, you’re single now, but who’s to say that can’t change? You’ve got plenty of charm and sass to keep someone on their toes. You’re a catch, plain and simple.

So, take a deep breath. Those kids of yours? They’re going to be just fine because you gave them a solid foundation. Now it’s time to rediscover you—and trust me, it’s going to be a hell of a ride.

So, go ahead and own this stage of your life. You’ve earned it. And who knows? Maybe this is where you meet someone who thinks your laugh is the best sound they’ve ever heard. 😉
